Website for doctors and clinics: what to include
What a website for doctors and clinics needs: timings, location, booking, doctor profiles, privacy and what you should not claim.

A website for doctors and clinics has one main job: help a worried or busy person find the right information quickly and take the next step. That step is usually a phone call, a WhatsApp message or a visit. Patients often search on their phone, sometimes at night, sometimes in discomfort. A clinic site that is clear, calm and quick to use earns trust before they have met you.
What a website for doctors and clinics should show first
Think about the questions in a patient's head. Is this clinic open now? Where is it? Does the doctor treat my problem? How do I get an appointment? Your homepage should answer these without scrolling through long paragraphs.
- Clinic name, doctor name and speciality, stated plainly at the top.
- Opening days and hours, written as text.
- Full address, a map, and a short note on landmarks or parking.
- A call button and a WhatsApp button that work with one tap on a phone.
Our guide on what to put on your homepage covers the general order of information that works for most local businesses.
Timings and location: get them exactly right
Wrong timings cause more frustration than almost anything else. If the doctor visits another hospital on certain days, say so. If Sunday is by appointment only, say so. Write timings as text, not as an image, so they can be read by phones and search engines. Update them as soon as anything changes, including holiday closures.
For location, add a clear address and a map link. Mention the nearest well-known landmark, because many people in Pune and Ahilyanagar find places that way. Make sure the address matches your Google profile exactly.
Booking: phone, WhatsApp or a form
You do not need a complicated booking system on day one. Choose the method your staff can actually manage.
- Call button: best when a receptionist is always available.
- WhatsApp button: convenient for patients who prefer messaging. See our notes on using WhatsApp for business enquiries.
- Enquiry form: useful after hours. Ask only for name, phone number and a short reason.
Whatever you choose, make sure someone replies, and be honest about how and when. A form nobody checks does more harm than no form.
Doctor profiles that build trust
Give each doctor a short profile: name, speciality, qualifications and registration details as they appear on official records, languages spoken, and the services they provide. Add a clear, recent photo. Keep the tone human and factual. Patients are reassured by seeing a face and a plain description of how you work.
List your services in simple words. A patient may search for "knee pain" rather than the formal name of a procedure, so explain it in everyday language and keep the medical term next to it.
Patient privacy and data
If your site has a form, it collects personal information. Treat it with care.
- Ask for the minimum: name, phone number and a short note.
- Tell patients not to enter detailed medical history in a web form or in a public chat.
- Never publish patient names, photos, reports or case details without clear written consent.
- Add a short privacy note saying how enquiries are used and who sees them.
- Make sure the site uses HTTPS and that only authorised staff can read form submissions.
Rules on health data and advertising can change, so confirm what applies to you with your professional body or a legal adviser.
What not to claim
Medical advertising is sensitive. Keep your wording honest and modest.
- Do not promise cures or guaranteed results.
- Do not use before-and-after claims you cannot support.
- Do not call yourself "the best" or "number one" unless you can show a verifiable basis.
- Do not copy patient reviews onto your site without their permission.
Check the advertising rules that apply to your profession before you publish. A calm, accurate description of what you treat and how patients can reach you is both safer and more convincing.
Connect your site to Google Business Profile
Most patients will find your clinic on Google Maps before they find your site. Keep your Google Business Profile complete: correct category, timings, phone number, photos and a link to your website. Our guide on how to get found on Google Maps explains the steps. Ask satisfied patients, politely and without pressure, to share honest feedback, and read how to get more Google reviews for the right way to ask.
Keep it fast and simple
Many patients will open your site on a mid-range phone with an average connection. Use a few good photos, avoid heavy sliders and auto-playing video, and keep pages short. A fast, clean page beats a flashy one every time.
